Executive

George F. Brecht, Jr., business management partner and Chairman of the Board of Chesapeake Systems, Inc., is responsible for its overall operations management, focusing primarily on the financial aspects. He founded Chesapeake and its sister company, SofTeam, USA, Inc., and has held various senior positions with Digital Systems in Walkersville, MD. George, a Certified Public Accountant, spent his early career as a Senior Manager with Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young) in their New York office and internationally in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Japan, and South Vietnam.

Mark R. Dent, President and Owner, oversees all operations and insures the highest level of customer service. His technical background began with Agora, Inc. as a print buyer, then at Towson Computer where he rose to Service Manager. He has also headed up technical support in North and South America for high-end Mac-based sign-making and embroidery applications. Mark has designed and implemented numerous network solutions as well as in-house databases to track service contract hours to insure proper and fair billing. The key decision-maker at Chesapeake, he handles hiring, in-house training and acts as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), testing and passing solid information to employees and customers. Offline, he's a big time Ravens fan, loves live music and is an active member of Baltimore County Fish & Game. A family man with two kids, he enjoys home improvement.

Service

Paul Roth, Chief Operations Officer, has worked with Macs since high school. Professionally, he started by fixing computer lab Macs at Johns Hopkins. He also worked for MacMedics and did freelance work, all Macintosh-centered. Paul coordinates all full-time technicians' schedules as well as most managers' and a courier's. He ensures correct and timely billing and is the unofficial hub for almost every bit of information that goes through the Company. A vegetarian who owns a rascally pit bull, he's a swing dance aficionado who competes nationally. Turn-ons include swimming and Indian food.

Jeffrey Compton, On-Site Systems Engineer, goes where the trouble is, performing consulting, installation, and training. His areas of expertise include OSX Server, networking, cross-platform integration, and SAN architecture. His first hands-on exposure was a Performa 6115 CD in grad school, and its trouble-free performance made him a lifetime Mac fan. Jeff has had a varied career in Finance, as the CEO's personal assistant, then as an Account Executive for the company's in-house ad agency, taking on the additional responsibilities of overseeing IT. After a stint with a Mac-based academic think tank, he joined the Chesapeake team in his current capacity. Jeff can juggle and recite the Greek alphabet simultaneously, even after a couple of drinks.

Clark T. Riley, PhD., Senior Field Engineer, has an academic background longer than your arm. Originally specializing in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina, he received his PhD and post-Doctoral Fellowship from the University of Chicago. Since 2000 he has been providing consultation, installation and maintenance for a broad range of Apple Computer products, including services and training in the central Maryland region. Clark's outside interests include his church, publishing services, and membership in both the American Orchid Society and the Maryland Orchid Society. He also is working on his second novel.

Wolfgang Schilder, Senior Bench Technician, got his start in the Mac world when he "inherited" his writer father-in-law's discarded Macs, which he started upgrading. He works mostly with hardware. His previous work experience was with Mac Home & Office and he has been with Chesapeake since 2003. A native of Germany where he started out as a chef, Wolfgang also worked several years in South Africa as well as in Grand Cayman where he met his wife scuba diving. He has been in America since '89. Colleagues describe him as typically German, stubborn, well-organized, and technically minded.

Brian Summa, Pro-Apps Engineer, embraced the Mac platform in February 2002 because he wanted to move video, and "you need to move video on a Macintosh." Prior to that he studied Electronic Media & Film at Towson University. He is the lead technician for Pro Video installations, support, and Final Cut Pro training, troubleshooting OS issues to "make the stuff work". He holds a certificate from Anne Arundel Community College and another from The Workshops, Rockport, MA in Basic Digital Post Production. Mark Dent says Brian has the best hair in the company.

Mark Critzman, Bench/On-site Engineer, troubleshoots hardware and software, and installs systems. He most recently attended the Workforce Technology Center in Baltimore, receiving Aplus and NetPlus certifications from Towson University. He is also a Geography major. Mark has been using Macs since 1994 and has always tinkered around with things. He is mostly hardware-oriented. At Chesapeake, he holds the distinction of having a strong PC background. Mark joined the Chesapeake team in June, 2004.

Sales

Nick Gold, Pro Audio Sales, started out with Macs back in Elementary School. In recent years, he has used many platforms, but swears by Mac OS X. As a staff member of Goucher College's computer music program he had his first opportunity to "get under the hood" of Macintosh systems used in a high tech environment. His Communications major also allowed him to gain familiarity with video production at the peak of the jump from linear to non-linear editing. Nick worked for Unforgettable Events, a video production company, using Adobe Premiere for editing and later for Neurosonics, a company that had developed extremely functional brain-computer interface systems. He then worked for AppleCare, leaving in April 2004 to join the Chesapeake team. Nick holds a deep personal belief that there is meaning in the chaos.

Dave Massey, Director of Training, wears a number of hats, educating clients about their buying decisions and planning sound strategies for technology purchases. He has also been known to coordinate marketing-related functions, fill in as a graphic designer for in-house promotions and frequently go on-site to perform color management and consulting services for Chesapeake clients. Dave attended the University of Maryland in Baltimore County, from which he graduated with honors, earning a BA in Photography in 2000. His idea of after hours fun is photographing urban landscapes by night.

Fulfillment

Brook Cumor, Fulfillment Coordinator, is responsible for shipping and receiving, returns, and reconciliation of purchasing. Brook started with Apple computers in the pre-Mac days. After an eight-year foray in the world of Windows PC, he was definitely happy to rejoin the Mac world when he came to Chesapeake in August, 2004. Brook graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio with a B.A. in History and a minor in Philosophy. He plays guitar, harmonica and vocalizes for a local country band. Brook is also the proud father of a 14-year old boy, already whacking away at the drums.
